Handmade stoneware ceramic vase.
Made with an earthy clay and fired in a reduction kiln to provide the distinctive speckle. Glazed in an earthy grey with a feature of exposed clay at the base.
A reduction firing is where the chemistry of the clay and glaze is manipulated during firing by starving the kiln of oxygen. This process draws the iron out of the body of the earthy clay I use and creates the much loved speckle.
