Our Story

Meet Gather Collect is brought to you by husband and wife, a very shy duo, Thea and Pete .

Thea (that’s me) who looks after the shop day in and day out, selects every single piece that comes into the store (yes i know that’s ALOT) and Pete who helps out behind the scenes as well as running his own furniture business, Curious Tales, which you can see instore.

 Thea is born and bred in Canberra and Pete is originally a country boy but now definitely calls himself a Canberran.

We met studying Interior design. Pete who found his calling into furniture design then went into studying furniture at ANU.

After getting married, we decided we need to spread our wings so off to Melbourne we went. We immersed ourselves into our new lives and surroundings. After a time we soon found ourselves wanting more out of our lives. So Pete started his furniture business Curious Tales. Starting off small, working multiple jobs as well working towards building his brand.

After 4.5 in years in Melbourne, we decided to move back to Canberra and bring back our ( as I’m totally putting my clam on this) furniture business and everything that had inspired us.

 From there Meet Gather Collect was built to bring our fellow Canberrran’s a shop where you can enjoy the most amazing Australian Designers and Makers products.  

Being makers ourselves (see how i did that again) we understand what the support means and the hard work that goes into each individual product. 

 After a long 3 months of renovating the location at the Aranda shops, the store was ready to open in November 2015. It has expanded over the last 2.5 years. Bringing you  many beautiful products as well incredible creative workshops.

In fact, it was Pete’s work that inspired us to start workshops at Meet Gather Collect in the first place!

Yup. We wanted to create a space where people [just like me and Pete] could come together, learn a new skill and create beautiful additions for your homes. 

We are proud of the community and store that we have build. Our love for great Australian creative’s wares shine’s through everything we do. We have put our heart and sole into it and we couldn’t be more proud. We hope you love it as such as we do.
