Clay Hand Building Workshop

Slow down and Join Lea from Mud Dept and spend the morning immersing yourself in the wonderful world of clay. Learn to handbuild a oil burner, vase, mug, treasure box, whatever the heart desires.

In this workshop you will be shown a variety of hand building techniques to make your chosen designs.

Lea will teach you the clay handbuilding techniques of slab and pinching to make your piece. You will have a choice of two clays to work with. 

The wonderful thing about handbuilding is that all that is needed to make beautiful objects are clay, your hands, and perhaps a few simple tools. Although even these are not essential. In this workshop you will learn these ancient techniques, still relevant today, and come away with skills you can use to make just about any ceramic piece.

You will learn different techniques from carving, coil and pinching techniques as well as  how to decorate your piece with stamps, carving and colour, using a few different techniques.

Your piece will be glazed, in the glaze of your choice, fired and returned to you, ready for you to use.

The class is suitable for beginners and those with some more experience.

Lea will take your pieces back to her studio to fire and glaze. They will be ready for collection from MGC four weeks after your workshop.
